If your home has a crawlspace, mold growth will always be a very real concern. While there are general mold prevention techniques, the construction of a crawlspace or attic tends to negate those. They are dark, moist, and hot, so even with proper ventilation, mold can accumulate over time.
Eliminating mold is a rather straightforward process, but it will take time to accomplish. Depending on how long the mold has been there, you will need to use escalating levels of mold removal.
Step 1 – Assess Damage.
Step 2 – Prepare for Mold Removal.
Step 3 – Install dehumidifier to dry structure and air scrubber while cleaning.
Step 4 – Remove all wet damage batt insulation.
Step 5 – Hepa vac all floor joist, rim joist and sub-floor.
Step 6 – Apply Mold Removal Chemicals.
Step 7 – Install new batt insulation.
Step 8 – Install new vapor barrier.
